Nursing and Step Down Unit
The Cardiac Nursing and Step Down Unit provides specialized nursing care to patients requiring diagnostic evaluation and/or treatment of medical diagnoses, or those patients requiring surgery. The unit provides nursing care to all ages of patients, with a major emphasis on cardiology and cardiovascular patients. Nursing care is provided to patients undergoing cardiovascular surgeries including coronary artery bypass, heart valve replacements, resection of aneurysms, lung resections, and pacemaker placement. 24-hour care is delivered to the patients in 30 private rooms. The unit has the ability to provide cardiac patient monitoring by means of portable telemetry units and also hard wire permanent telemetry units.

The Cardiac Step Down Unit houses more critically ill patients. Patient rooms have ventilator alarms and closed circuit television cameras for 24-hour continuous observation of the patient from the telemetry room, which is adjacent to the nurses' station. The telemetry area is attended around the clock by technicians and nurses specially trained in comprehensive cardiac care.
